The core process of composite flexible packaging materials is lamination. This process cleverly bonds a variety of films or other flexible materials with different properties together and then seals them to achieve the purpose of carrying, protecting and decorating the contents. In the modern packaging industry, flexible packaging with its unique laminated structure, showing endless charm and a wide range of applications.
Laminated structure 1. flexible packaging
The laminated structure of flexible packaging is like building a house, and various materials are like bricks and tiles, which are closely connected by adhesives to build a solid line of defense and protect the contents. According to different combinations, the laminated structure of flexible packaging can be divided into the following types:
- Outer layer: The outer layer is the first line of defense for flexible packaging. It usually uses materials with good mechanical strength, good heat resistance, good printing performance, and good optical performance, with high strength and wear resistance. At present, the most commonly used requirements are polyester (PET), nylon (NY), stretched polypropylene (BOPP), paper and other materials.
- Intermediate layer: The intermediate layer is usually used to enhance certain characteristics of the composite structure, such as barrier performance, light shielding performance, aroma retention, strength, etc., and the intermediate layer can also be added with some functional materials, such as moisture-proof layer, anti-oxidation layer, etc. The most commonly used materials are aluminum foil (AL), aluminized film (VMCPP,VMPET), polyester (PET), nylon (NY), polyvinylidene chloride coating film (KBOPP,KPET,KONY), etc.
- Inner layer: The most critical role of the inner layer material is sealing performance. The inner structure directly contacts the internal material, so it is required to be non-toxic, odorless, waterproof and oil resistant. Commonly used materials are cast polypropylene (CPP), polyethylene (PE) and its modified materials.
- Adhesive Layer: An adhesive layer is a bond that connects the layers described above by bonding two adjacent layers of material together to form a composite structure. An adhesive or adhesive resin may be used as the adhesive layer material depending on the characteristics of the adjacent materials and the composite process. The bond strength between bonded laminates is an important index to evaluate the intrinsic performance of composite packaging materials, and different packaging requirements have different requirements for the index.
Advantages of 2. composite flexible packaging
Composite flexible packaging with its unique laminated structure, showing many advantages:
- Strong protective performance: composite flexible packaging can effectively isolate moisture, oxygen, light and other violations of the contents, to extend the shelf life of the product.
- Good sealing performance: The materials of each layer are tightly connected by adhesive to ensure the sealing performance of the package and avoid leakage of the contents.
- Flexible structure: according to the needs of different products, flexible adjustment of the type and combination of packaging materials, to achieve personalized customization.
- Lightweight and easy to carry: The composite flexible packaging material is light in weight, easy to carry, and reduces logistics costs.
- Environmental protection and energy saving: composite flexible packaging can use recyclable materials, reduce the waste of resources, is conducive to environmental protection.
Application Prospect of 3. Composite Flexible Packaging
With the development of science and technology and market demand, composite flexible packaging has been widely used in food, medicine, cosmetics, electronic products and other fields. In the future, composite flexible packaging materials will continue to develop in the direction of high performance, environmental protection and intelligence, bringing more innovations and opportunities to the packaging industry.
